Vermont should merge its school districts into a smaller number of larger districts.
A 2025 state law set a process to redraw Vermont's school district map into fewer, larger districts and change how schools are funded. Lawmakers have not yet settled on the final district boundaries.

Instead of building on this strength, Vermont's current education strategy is focused on consolidating districts, closing rural schools, and sending children farther from their communities.
Once you close the schools, you're pretty much giving up on the town.
