Tennessee should allow public schools to deny enrollment to students without legal immigration status.
A 1982 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires public schools to enroll children regardless of immigration status. A state law allowing schools to deny enrollment would likely face a court challenge over that precedent.

Illegal aliens should not have free access to our public schools or any other public services in Tennessee...I wholeheartedly support Senator Watson's legislation that requires immigration or citizenship documentation from students attending the state's public schools.
