New York should let judges consider a defendant's risk to public safety when setting bail.
Since 2020, New York has barred cash bail for most misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies, and judges cannot weigh a defendant's danger to the public when setting bail. This would let judges consider that danger in deciding release or detention.

It's just a matter of common sense and good judgment that Pam has used, as she has in the past, to come up with this legislation that will remedy a situation that was created by (Gov.) Kathy Hochul and the Democrats in the legislature that have made us less safe.
