Idaho should keep state agreements that let its officers help carry out federal immigration enforcement.
Since 2025, Idaho State Police, the Department of Correction and several sheriffs have signed 287(g) agreements with federal immigration authorities. These let trained officers perform some immigration duties, such as holding and transporting detainees.

Idaho has a responsibility to uphold the rule of law and protect the people of our state. This agreement gives Idaho another tool to make sure criminal aliens who are subject to federal immigration enforcement are transferred to federal custody when they have completed their Idaho sentences.
