Hawaii should keep its 2026 increase in the visitor lodging tax for environmental and climate projects.
Since January 2026, Hawaii's tax on hotel and vacation rental stays rose from 10.25 to 11 percent and now also applies to cruise ships. The added money is meant to fund environmental and climate-resilience projects.
