California should fully fund the drug treatment and sentencing changes in Proposition 36.
Voters passed Proposition 36 in 2024, raising penalties for some theft and drug crimes and creating court-ordered treatment. The measure did not include its own funding source, and the state budget has covered only part of the estimated cost.
