Alaska should pay the full Permanent Fund Dividend set by the original statutory formula.
In recent years lawmakers have paid dividends well below the amount the original state law formula would produce. Paying the full formula amount would increase checks but require more spending from the Permanent Fund or cuts elsewhere.

I support legislation and, if necessary, a constitutional amendment to establish a clear formula so this issue is settled once and for all.
It is important to follow the law. A statutory dividend today is about $2.4 billion.
